The Tourist

I fail to understand why The Tourist keeps getting medium-to-low reviews. Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck's latest work is a highly stylish film, a feast for the eyes, and a true gift to whoever loves supreme acting.

Johnny Depp, in my opinion the only actor in his kind, never fails to surprise me for his incredible chameleontic qualities. Remember John Dillinger in Public Enemies, the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland and now Frank Tupelo. It's unbelievable that it's all the same person.

Angelina is fantastic. Amazing. In this film, she calls the shots, all the way, thanks to her skills in combining great beauty with very elegant acting.

But the focal point of The Tourist is the location, a Venice that has a refined, romantic air of an Italy that maybe no longer exists.
Looking at the luxurious suites of the Hotel Danieli, I came to thinking of the 90s movie "Only You", where Marisa Tomei looks for the man of her life in its lavish rooms. Amore, if you're reading, how about Valentine's Day in Venice?
