Happy Chocolate Day...oops I mean Easter.

I'm not religious, so the only meaning of Easter to me is eating lots and lots of chocolate (which, if you're me, is no diffierent from a regular Saturday...or Tuesday). But my family is very religious: being of Russian descent they're orthodox Christians and Easter is one of their biggest holidays.

This year I'm at my in-láws' house to celebrate with delicious Mediterranean food and company! But I can't help but think back on all of the past Easters spent at my parents' house. The breakfasts with Russian sweets, the hours passed with my sisters choosing our outfits, the setting of the table, the arrival of the guests. I remember the laughter, the wine, my mom's great cooking, the smiles and that warm feeling of family. I can recall all the times when the guests have left and we were left there by ourselves, with a cup of tea and a brand new batch of memories. I try to be happy that I've had those moments in my life, but I can't help but be sad for having sacrificed them.
