Pray for Japan

Guarda cosa succede in Giappone."

Last night, in typical Monday mode, I whined to my mom on the phone about my never-ending money problems. Her response (not the one I'd hoped for, which was "don't worry, my dear daughter, five hundred euros are making their way into your bank account as we speak"), was, "Those things can all be resolved. Just look at what the people in Japan are going through".

This has made me think about how our problems, no matter how heavy and how real, are all solvable. About how much time we waste complaining instead of actually taking steps to achieve a change. And about how much true, palpable misery there is in the world.

Instead of always only thinking about ourselves, about our shoe closets that are never full enough, our apartments that aren't ever big enough and our pay checks that aren't high enough, why don't we take some time to think about the people who have lost everything?

Tonight I'll be sending  my donation with Red Cross to the victims of the disasters in Japan. I'd like to encourage all of you, even if you're poor like me, to do the same.

  2. Lovely post S and so true. I really hope people there see some hope soon. Luckicly they are a resillient nation and I just know that even tragedy of this size will make them stronger (just like WW2 did). It might be of little comfort now, but any light of the situation is good now.
