Location Independent!

I'd like to share this website with you, as it's literally changing my life:

Location Independent

This site's creators, Lea and Jonathan (a couple) are my new gurus (I was really happy to find out that Lea is following me on Twitter!), because they've managed to do everything that I want to do in life. They've mastered the art of doing the work they love, from anywhere in the world. They've lived all over the globe, travelled around the world and worked independently, and now they have a little girl who's probably going to have the most amazing childhood ever! And the best thing is that on this website, they teach us all how to live the way that they do. They answer questions, give tips (I just signed up to be a house-sitter and I had no clue that that kind of thing even existed before ending up on this website!) and solve virtually any problem that could be connected to location independent living.

I don't know about you, but I was born with the spirit of a traveller's spirit. Until now, I've lived in only four countries, but there's still time. Reading Jonathan and Lea's site makes me believe that everything is possible. If they can do it, I can too. All I need is a pinch of determination.

Como

Yesterday I visited Como - an amazing little town just an hour from Milan. Beautiful lakeside atmospheres and luxurious scenery - just what I needed to escape from the heavy summer air in the big city!

Get Ready For Departure

Domani parto. Di nuovo.
Torno a casa.

Tomorrow I'm travelling. Again.
I'm going back home.
This time, the occasion is more than a simple vacation: my sister is getting her high school diploma.

What with the luggage (damn you, Ryanair: with 15 chilos I can barely survive a day, let alone a week that includes a major event), the gifts (...by the way, did I put the gift in the suitcase?) and the dress (the role of sister of the graduate is a bit like a bridesmaid: she has to be radiant but not blatant; she has to look good without stealing the thunder from the main attraction of the day), I'm a bit tired already. I need one of those Frappuccino things from Starbucks.

I may have photos of Swedish spring for you tomorrow. But I can't promise anything, so don't get your hopes up.

Vegas, baby

Lately I've been having this strange desire to travel. Strange because of where I would like to go and what I would like to do there.

In the evenings when I'm blogging, I often find myself searching for travel and hotel sites, entering "Las Vegas" in the box that says "destination". Even more worrying is the fact that lasvegasweddings.com is now one of my most visited sites. I keep imagining a crazy, wild, free experience, a story to tell, and not only to our future children. A US marriage license costs 55 dollars, if anyone's interested.

It wouldn't be my first time visiting the city that REALLY never sleeps. I'd recommend it to everyone (except maybe my mother). But I must warn you: once you're back home, the desire to jump on a plane back to Vegas may haunt you at any given moment. Even ten years later.

Domani saluto tutti e vado in vacanza.

Tomorrow I'm leaving for my vacation.
Hoping for a week of smiles, serenity and enough food to gain at least one size.
I'll keep you posted from snowland!

Bon Voyage Baby

Febbraio-marzo? Mai più.

You know those people that, flitting from a night out with their friends (or with their "girls" as these people always call them) to a romantic dinner with the boyfriend, barely find the time to complain: "Oh-my-GAWD how on Earth am I going to make it through this week? It's only Thursday and I am wiped out. Things to do, people to see!"

I can't stand those people.

If I'm tired, it's because I have a truckload of things to do, and by "things" I don't mean going to a film premiere or to a book-launching party, but things like laundry, cooking, working, writing, grocery shopping, standing in line at the bank. This week has been so nightmarish that I'm surprised I'm not even crankier than this. Luckily, this week's to-do list also includes packing. That's right, this Sunday I'm returning to my home country of Sweden - if only for a week.

Main concerns:

* Yesterday when my mother went to work, the temperature in Stockholm was -21C.

* EasyJet will only allow 20kg luggage and 10kg carry-on - with no regard whatsoever for the fact that a laptop needs to be kept in its own case, and thus can not be included in the carry-on.

* The list of people that want to see me is longer than the guest list for the Vanity Fair Oscars party (crashers included) and they ALL just HAVE to see me on the same day.

* This vacation officially cost me not only fashion week, but also another work project. Life lesson: Christmas vacations are best taken at Christmas. If anything, they can be transferred to July, but February? Never again.

City of Angels

Sometimes it's so hard to believe I used to live in the city of angels.
I believed in possibilities, not only for the lucky ones, but for people like me.
I believed I had a whole life of marvellous surprises ahead of me.
I believed I could conquer the world, put it in my Speedy by Louis Vuitton (fake, twenty dollars on Venice) and walk proudly in my heels along the Santa Monica 3rd Street Promenade.
I believed I could touch a world where the sun is never hidden by dark clouds.
I believed I could find my own little space in the city of angels.
